What are "Protected Confluence Users" in Viewtracker Cloud Reports?

There are two reasons why you might see this entry in various Viewtracker Cloud Reports:

  • At some point, your administrator had enabled the Extended Privacy Mode in the Viewtracker configuration. However, the setting is now back to "Standard," and you can see the other viewers' names in the reports.

  • In the Content & Usage Report: Users report, the Viewtracker app lists this user automatically. The “Protected Confluence Users” will display 0 views and 0 other actions and is not clickable. Views and other interactions by various users during the "Extended" Privacy setting are tracked with this user.

What the Extended Privacy Mode does

If the Extended Privacy Mode is enabled, Viewtracker will not track individual users. Instead of a user name, you will see the entry "Protected Confluence Users" in the statistics. As long as the Extended Privacy Mode is enabled, the user name will not be written into the database and will never be displayed in Viewtracker reports. All views made during the Extended Privacy Mode will stay anonymized, even after switching to a different privacy setting.
